England duo James Haskell and Jack Clifford have been prevented from flying out to Portugal with the England squad to train for their grand slam defence next month down to injury concerns.

The two who picked up their injuries at the weekend, were set to fly out to Vilamoura yesterday but were kept behind to under-go further medical assessments. Although the pair have been held back for precaution, they will look to gain full fitness and rejoin the squad for the preparation leading up the massive tournament.

The back row pair won’t be hanging about when it comes to getting back to full fitness, as the tournament has crept up on us and is only just over two weeks away. Jones will hope that both of his men will get back to top shape for the start of the tournament, as they were both important names within Eddie’s 34 man squad prior to the injury doubts. Although, it is not all bad if they don’t, as Eddie’s squad has enough quality throughout to put a show up against any side.

Hopefully we will see both in England’s opener on 4th February as they face a growing France side.
